| This is my IKWIG Tour guide. It will take you to all the locations in IKWIG and then a few extra ones as well. | This is a map with "stick-pins" to give an idea of the layout between locations. Although nearly all interior shots in the film were re-created back at Denham studios in London the exterior locations are astonishing! | If you have Autoroute this is the file I used to track the route. You can download this file for more manipulation on a PC. | Nancy Franklin was my inspiration, in Mark Cousins' short extra (I know where I'm Going! Revisited) on the IKWIG DVD (see below left), to actually go to Mull. This is Nancy's own photo of her self at Moy Castle. I do recommend visiting the island - it might just change your life too. |
Robert (I'm an academic) Beveridge, the globe-trotting, supreme organiser and old romantic has quietly moved mountains and managed to secured a listed building status on our phone box. The famouse red phone box at Carsaig is now safe! (No. +44 (0)1681-704203) It was in danger of being removed due to lack of use (understandable) as only IKWIGrs and lost hikers ever use it. |

New owners for iconic Tobermory
hotel. (02 October 2008 15:38) The landmark Western Isles hotel in Tobermory on the Isle of Mull has been sold to experienced hoteliers Richard Nealon and Esplin Chapman. The coastal hilltop property is a landmark hotel in the fishing port of Tobermory (the setting for the childrens TV programme Balamory) and its image has appeared on countless postcards, book covers and jigsaw puzzles. Built in 1833, it was used as an officers mess during the second World War and was the location for the 1940s film I Know Where Im Going. The Western Isles overlooks the harbour and bay with its famous frontage of brightly-painted buildings. Facilities include 28 en-suite bedrooms to sleep 56, a conservatory lounge bar and a residents lounge (each able to seat 50 guests), a dining room to seat 56 people (or 80 at a function), an adjacent 30-seat private dining room, and a 30-seat meeting room. The top floor houses owners accommodation with two double en-suite bedrooms while a detached block provides nine en-suite bedrooms and a lounge. The Glasgow office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the feuhold off a guide price of £850,000. It was acquired by the London and Edinburgh Swallow Group in 2006 off an asking price of £1.1m and has been run by the Oxford Hotel Group for a variety of owners since Swallows demise.
